Cynthia K. Mullins, an award-winning painter and native of Connecticut, has an aesthetic and inquisitive sense towards the world and the art she creates.
She enjoys painting a range of subjects including florals and landscapes. For the last few years, she has pursued her interest in bridging abstraction with realism using the historical subject matter of flora.
Using floral images, her paintings explore intimate compositions, graceful or sharper lines, value shifts, varied texture, space and overall mood.
Most of her current works are in oil, but she will use watercolor or acrylic as under-paintings to add dimensional interest.
Her painting surfaces vary using linen, paper, board, aluminum and stainless steel; the favored substrate is flat and smooth in order to allow for her own gestural painting texture.
